-
Jesus taught us that scripture answers every temptation of the devil:
But he answered and
said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. [MATT4:4]
- Scripture has benefits beyond resisting temptation:
All scripture is
given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of
God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
[2TIM3:16,17]
- Thus, we must be students of scripture:
Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth. [2TIM2:15]
- When we study the Bible, we get all good things:
According as his
divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
[2PET1:3]
- As Dr. Luke recorded, the Noble church encourages everyone to be like
the Christians at Berea, to check out every purveyor of the word:
These were more noble
than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness
of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
[ACTS17:11]
- The Noble church further admonishes with the Apostle John that we be
careful of all who teach:
Beloved, believe
not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because
many false prophets are gone out into the world. [1JOHN4:1]
